For once...my weekend is packed!
within a day, I met up with 2 groups of frens!
have not been doing this for a long time
meeting frens back to back
it's tiring but good to catch up
the usual "so many people" phobia!
thinking to myself...
oh man! why do we have to meet at orchard!!??

ah jing said to me before she went off "you must come out more often"

I love spending weekend at home already...

Today, the bus driver said "xiao di ji de da card!"
not knowing wat to say
I simply say "da le"
looking around the bus, no one ever bothers...
so I just think cool...
this is the dun know how many times I'm being called xiao di since young...
chief at hotel called me xiao di
repair uncle called me xiao di
even at the carehut camp, someone asked me this question
"excuse me, but are you a girl or a boy?!"
I just looked at him blankly...
not knowing wat to say again...

have been taking cabs for various reasons past few days ... $$$ spent!
got to prepare for the trip stuff - packed, practise, changed money, bring all the stuff, remember songs, remember chords, remember to buy ziplog bag and water bottle!

last blog at 11th Nov, whisperingwood has been kinda busy
it has been a month since i blogged!
it's been the skol holis...
phew...i am just trying to keep up with the dates and where am I supposed to go
can't afford to miss out on my carehut duties and what I need to do
"what you got to do you got to do"
phew...thou physically tiring but it's still great to spend time with the kids and my fellow colleagues
our carehut camp is over
and well I do need lotsa patience and energy!
But I thank God for the camp
deep in my heart all that I wish for the kids is that they had a great learning experience
putting aside all the crazy shouting, complaints, crying, angry outburst, fierce competition etc...
hope this camp is something precious for them
oh ya! and not forgetting the heavy stormy rainy experience at west coast park
it seemed more enjoyable and fun for them than us "adults"!
with all the rain and thunder!
special thanks to all my group members in I-Listen!!! and plus Wen and Janel =)
and plus all the hardwork done by my colleagues and volunteers
heeeee and our mini taboo session till 1.30 am! heeeeee

Was busy with VAD for the past week.

Glad that I can take a break from my class
ahhhhhhhh! but this coming fri is my final test for the term!
still trying to memorise all the verses

VAD has just passed during sat...and after that went to help out at ymca
I'm just glad that the whole day ended well, and I am just tired out!
I was reminded why I am doing what I am doing
I was reminded to look at things beyond just being nice
getting a bit weary... oh man! =(

does not help for what has happened at the market on sunday
definitely not!
but I tell myself instead of asking God why it happened
It serves as a big reminder to me for what I have done , and not to repeat the same old mistake again
Coz it does not help to keep asking why
I need to grow out of it
and after thinking about that, I was kinda feeling numb
but I know that this is what I need to do
you got to do what you need to do!

I always wonder why people do "nice" things
I do not want to be nice for just being nice
Nice is not an exact word to describe something
Nice has lots of different meaning to it
What is nice to me, I probably will not do it:
for example things like:

Inviting someone who is not close to you for your wedding
Telling someone that "hey let's meet up some time" when it is just a casual remark
Saying that you will help to do it, but you are just too busy and you can't
Inviting all your friends to your birthday party
Saying things like "it must have been terrible"
Saying things like "see I told you many times already, and why you did not do it?"
Giving lots of suggestions for the sake of giving suggestions
Giving lots of complaints for the sake of giving complaints
Giving a compliment or praise when you do not mean it
Helping to do something but you are just lazy to do it

To look at things beyond just being nice , life is full of contradictions =( why can't it be more simple???!!!! Can means can, cannot means cannot , why make life so difficult for yourself! and probably others?

hmmm whisperingwood is back writing off some of the things she has been experiencing lately
it has been some time since 20th Oct
My past few weeks just flew past like a wind
think I have been saying this for many times, so shall not dwell on this.
but I am happy that end of the year is coming
coz I like end of the year
where there is rain, and the wind is nicer to breathe and the weather is not so sunny!
helps my brain to think better
and my heart to feel nicer!

ya talking about weather...
I just love all the rainy and cloudy days
though it makes one moody
but then it helps to lift my spirits up
esp looking at the big field overseeing the blue sky which is just opp where I work
think that's the only consolation I get from working at paya lebar I guess

not much that I did
I have not attended my art class
was able to siam two weddings in a row on the same day
was giving thanks not needing to attend weddings like Diana who has 4 weddings on the 4 weekends in the month of Oct.

when I smsed her I said "it's a sweet month in Oct."
Diana asked "why. is there other things?"
I smsed back "erh...you mean there are other reasons, or you want to say "love is in the air" that's why it is a sweet month, other than being my birthday month?"

anyways, my birthday was spent watching honey and clover at home
feeling peaceful that day coz the weather is super good
I get to wake up late and just do nothing
wendy asked me what is my birthday thought
I said I just feel so at peace and giving thanks for all the wonderful birthday sms and wishes
at the same time, I really thank God for what a year that he has put me through
Not much of adventure
but indeed is lots of changes in me that I guess God is doing in my life

Not trying to be me but just be me
always making a balance

hey, i'm back
today's mood is blue and green =) kinda friendly colours! atmosphere at home is cordial, but good to take some days away from home. Thinking about ah ding being in tokyo at this point in time... thinking about stuff...drifting off sometimes, but has been trying to tell myself to keep my own sanity, and not repeating the same mistakes again. Ah xia you really have to wake up! wake up!!!!!It's time to wake up!!!! Not really helping when you received the email. But I need to stand firm.

I really hope that I have time to take up the sat art lesson and how to play youkelili for the mission trip that is coming up in Dec. I really hope really hope I can learn something useful and bring productive for the sake of my own good. Else I do not want to rot till the end of the year!

It's great going to walk walk with Aunty Amy, been a while since I go for a walk. It's really enjoyable ... just talking and chatting along the way. The view is nice too! =)

Appts, meetups, phonecalls, chit chats, deadliness...keeping track of my own pace of life too!

Few things that I am quite proud of myself recently:

Manage to take 1 day MC on 22 Sep so far for the year , left 13 days out of 14 days sick leave
Read few books
Did not buy any new stuff recently, although I did went shopping with Ash & Daryl at Bugis! Tried stopping myself from buying new things!
Manage to return Sam's CDs to her.
Manage to finish my travel notebook for my past few trips.
Manage to make my new passport biometric! I can go back to my travelling days! Monday, Tuesday happy days! Weds Thurs happy days...happy days happy days..

Met up with Qiao jing and Vicky. Been great to catch up! hey Vicky, maybe next year I can come over and visit you! haaaaaaaaaaaaa =P and also visit ah Ding hor!

End of the year, mission trip to Ho Chi Minh! 加油加油！

Be right with God ~ try to do 15 mins quiet time daily. Been doing quiet time quite consistently. Able to memorise some verses at IDT and been passing my term tests.
Take up art lessons ~ I have not signed up for it yet! Oh man!
Did not take up driving ~ though I have checked on my eye that I have a 6/6 if I wear my contacts. Certified by doctor that I can drive.
Go to New Zealand...*cross fingers* ~ just when can I go???
Did not go japan but went taipei instead
Did not go East Timor but went to Inner Mongoliap ~ vision GO100
Join a cell group ~ currently has 3 groups - office, church and bible group
Make more friends ~ did make some new friends at work

not that this question has never crossed my mind before
but it is like for the xxxxth time in my life
being a travel craze i've always been
being spontaneous and doing stuff in "the spur of the moment"
had much satisfaction for doing things that I knew inside my heart
this is what God wants me to do
this is what I am living for ... at this moment
and it is all worth it
and you know it in her heart
that this is really what you wanted to do
probably during that time
and for a period of time
and probably for a lifetime

Just started me thinking about ...
travel and bag pack around the world
Go on board duolos
stay and work at a hostel facing the beach, and be a beach bum for a loooong time
work at a bakery
go to a rural village and stay there
preparing myself for mission work overseas and study mission stuff

in short, I am praying to God
time seemed to be longer these few weeks
I know that there is always work to be done
but this little heart of mine seemed to be drifting off sometimes

a regular 9 to 5 job versus one that is flexible
a job that pays me versus one that relies totally on God's provision
a job that stays in singapore versus one that is overseas
a job in the city versus one that is in the rural areas

Just came back from my M trip
It's been a very memorable and fulfilling trip
First time been to this place
Though my chinese is still quite okie! haaaa

Before I went on this trip, I read the verse in Nahum 1:15
It says "Look, there on the mountains, the feet of one who brings good news, who proclaims peace!"
In english standard version it says "publishes peace"
by faith, I went on this trip.

During my trip , one of my quiet time reading is on psalm 147.
It really describes the place that I went
and all the things that God wants me to learn =)
Indeed, all that I've experienced is captured in this psalm =)!

Change vs stability

Change is a big word , I remembered whenever there is a change, it adds on to my stress level, affects my normal routine, affects my emotional and probably sometimes my physical state of being. On the other hand, stability means something that will never change or in better word it still stays the same. And I thank God for things to stay the same more than things that are changing. Balance is a state of being you "survive" and are able to cope with all that has been going on.

The meaning of change to me:

when there's a traffic jam early in the morning
when my alarm clock does not ring and it ran out of battery
when there are very few people on the train
when the sun is not hot in the morning
when I need to move house
when someone is getting married
when someone passed away
when someone is no longer in contact with me
when someone is back from overseas
when someone is going overseas
when my relationship with someone fades
when a colleague is leaving the workplace
when someone gets busier and has no time to meet up
when someone is quarrelling and getting into conflict
when someone did not reply my msn even though I msn the person "how have you been?" for the 50th time
when the road that is opposite my house is under construction

As I was spending my lazy saturday, I was really reflecting on the condition of my heart and my mind, and whether I've been putting God first and Jesus first in my life daily.
The worldly part of me
The carnal part of me
The holy spirit filled part of me
The authority given to me to demolish strongholds in my life
and the power to defeat the evil one, the battle belongs to the Lord, and I also need to take responsiblity for my own spiritual state, and also emotional and physcial state
I need to work on my salvation daily
To guard my heart and to guard my mind
and shield it and protect it

Just when the going gets tough, the tough gets even tougher
but I will continue to press on no matter what
I know that all these tests are for myself to discover what I am lacking
and what are my weaknesses
and what God is telling me
Probably I need big ears to hear Him
or actually I just need to quiet down and wait upon Him and spend time listening to Him

Things at home has been quite peaceful and I thank God for everything
Mum has been reading book of Matthew as she continues to read till chapter 27
I guess she is going to finish up the book of Matthew soon
To me, I have a parents' ministry and siblings ministry at home
before I can reach out to my two loveable nieces

Most wednesday nites I like to watch Belinda's variety show @ 8 pm Channel U
The prog gives me some thoughts about the things that people do in another country
to put it in a bigger word
things that they pursue for their dreams
open a cafe
married to a husband and stay with him and start a family in a foreign country
protect the black bears
learn Tango
and doing what they have always wanted to do
living at the moment
living for the truth

When I was reminded again, how I take my mother's cooking for granted
when the lady missed her mum's home made pineapple tarts for CNY
when the old father keep looking at the walking stick and being so touched to hear her daughter singing to him
having to drive and climb miles and miles just to reach back home in the mountains

I am just thinking ... about myself
Lots of questions....
Ask God about it?
Ask myself about it?
as Belinda also said
I constantly been asking myself "what is it that I want to do with my life?"
At this point
I am thankful that I have God and Jesus in my life
I have friends and family in my life
I have a job in my life
I have a safe and protected country in my life
I have a roof over my head in my life
I have food and clean water in my life
I am healthy and fit in my life
I have a train and bus to take in my life

I can even play a round of board games with my colleagues on a public holiday
and sing ktv @ Kbox!
Drinking at the park

and having the luxury to have a good meal over for lunch or dinner

So what has been happening to whisperingwood
other than my ocassional late night sleep
thank God for protecting my parents from the China Earthquake
They are supposed to be there the next day
and when I reached open that day
The first thing that my father told me was "we were not able to go afterall, there's a earthquake in China"
Thinking about Myanmar Yangon, this place is special to me
coz my first mission trip is at Yangon
At the back of my mind...
I was thinking about the kids at the orphanage and all the Christian workers that I know of working over there...
Though I still have their photos with me
past memories just came back when it happened
All I know is I can only pray for them
Been watching news broadcast everyday now and then
and listening to morning talk over 93.3 FM
and reading my paper during morning rush hour on the train

Somehow other , I remembered that GDOP has just passed
and we were praying for all the nations at the Indoor Stadium that other Sunday
and recently I was reading on the books of minor prophets
and all the things that have been written in the books are God wrath on the nations that have rebelled against Him.
I started to think and ponder upon them
but time and again God is faithful, and He rescues and delivers ...
It's just a big thing that I cannot comprehend
God is God, He is who He is

So much for GDOP, have to remind myself that God is my first love
He loved us , that's why we are able to love
Mission preparation is going to be busier
plus my involvement with Girls Brigade during my Saturdays
I need to stay focus
and be strengthened daily
God will enable me =)

Past few weeks have been quite a challenging ride
apart from doing my usual stuff
meeting up with my mission team
and cooking some Jap food with wen
including fren's meet up and hanging out together after work
yup, "challenging" is the word to say
gave me time to think about stuff
and reflecting upon them

trying to tell myself to set my mind on things above
set my mind on things that belong to God

my focus for the week is my bible exam coming up...
Oh God, renew my mind, and refresh my spirit once again
so that I can continue to do your work
and reach out to others
